Phillip has spent a considerable time in the petroleum industry working for BP Southern Africa in the trading division covering all products from LPG, Lubes, Base Oils, Avgas, Bitumen and Main Fuels.  He has an in-depth understanding of the supply routes in Africa and was the trader responsible for the supply of all products into Zimbabwe, Malawi and the DRC and has even supplied customers as far afield as Madagascar and Gabon. He was also involved in procuring supplies to Tanzania, Zambia and Mozambique and has assisted traders in BP supplying products to Angola, Namibia and Botswana.  Having come from a refinery background, he has a thorough understanding of the supply chain from crude procurement and processing to distribution and trading.



Morné’s experience base covers the areas of Refining, Fuels Value Chain Planning & Optimisation and Trading.  He holds both a Chemical Engineering degree and an MBA.  He built his Refining base during his 8 year stint at Sapref (Shell & BP JV refinery) in Durban, South Africa, where he held various process engineering and business development roles.  In his 8 year stint with BP in Cape Town, South Africa, he held management roles across the spheres of Supply Planning & Optimisation and Supply Operations for Southern Africa, in BP’s Integrated Supply & Trading (IST) Africa group, and also traded oil products in Southern & East Africa.  He has a thorough understanding of the Southern & East Africa fuels value chains and is a seasoned participant in the South African Oil Industry.



Gillian holds a BCom (in Economics and Business Economics) and has over 20 years’ experience in the oil industry with BP involved in international operations.  This included Cargo operations, Shipping operations, and Ship Chartering and Marine fuels.  She spent 3 years in London on the Fuel Oil trading Bench involved in ship operations of black oils in the Baltic Sea, Black Sea, Mediterranean and US Gulf.  She has spent the last 6 years managing the Marine Marketing operations for BP in Africa.  This included responsibility for the entire Marine book, including HSSE, JBS’s, margins, profitability, and paper trading / hedging.
